Volunteer Testimonials

The role of a volunteer at the House is both a rewarding and fulfilling one. As one who volunteers on the reception desk, the tasks are varied and interesting. It is a place of fun, laughter and warmth, as well as somewhere you want to return to. I would recommend volunteering here to anyone who wishes to embrace the community spirit in a setting which does so much to try and cater for all needs. If you wish to know more, you are welcome to visit us.

Hello, I volunteer as a receptionist at Winchelsea House.   I heard of volunteering through the Friday playgroup that my daughter and I attend here at Winch house. I thought that it was just what I needed to break the rut of being a stay at home mum and a wonderful opportunity to meet other mums and at the same time give Sasha an opportunity to meet some new playmates.  I am constantly learning new skills while my child is just next door in Occasional Care socializing, playing games and having an absolute ball in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. The Childcare staff are fantastic at entertaining and educating the children.  Volunteers are offered child care at a reduced rate whist your are volunteering so I jumped at the opportunity. I feel that it is win for all, Sasha is able to get the early social skills she needs, I am out of the house gaining some valuable experience and I am also contributing and helping my local community.

Hi, my name is Carrie and I volunteer in administration at Winch House.  My latest roles have been building our new website, publishing the newsletter and typing up display material for all the interesting activities at Winchelsea Community House.  There is only a few paid staff at Winch House with limited hours and funds, so volunteers are vital to keep up the smooth running of Winch House.  "Volunteering has given me a great way to help the community whilst building my self confidence."  It has been a safe and friendly environment to get back into the workforce and before you know it you've made friends, your self esteem is growing and you don't want to leave the place seeing how much your positive contribution to the community is helping.
